The first 1,000 miles in the Audi Q7 have been a pleasant surprise.
At an approximately $80,000 MSRP, expectations are understandably high — and so far, the Q7 feels appropriately refined. The cabin remains quiet even at highway speeds, the ride is smooth without feeling disconnected, and the acceleration is effortless. It's comfortable enough for the school-run routine while still feeling polished and substantial when I'm driving without the kids.
For family life, the Q7's biggest strength has been its flexibility. There is plenty of room for my daughters, our stadium chairs, coaching equipment, groceries, and everything else that seems to accumulate during a busy week. The third row gives us the ability to bring friends along without committing to an oversized SUV, and when it isn't needed, the additional cargo space makes the Q7 genuinely useful. It feels spacious without being cumbersome to park or maneuver.
Inside, Audi's driver-focused design is clean, modern, and easy to learn. The large screens provide quick access to the vehicle's main controls without making the cabin feel unnecessarily complicated. Wireless Apple CarPlay was quick to set up and has connected reliably — an essential feature when navigation, music, calls, and family schedules all need to work without extra steps.
For a woman looking for a luxury family SUV that balances comfort, technology, usable space, and everyday drivability, the Q7 deserves a place on the test-drive list.
Fuel economy has averaged approximately 18 mpg during my first 1,000 miles. That may not impress anyone shopping strictly for efficiency, but it is a noticeable improvement over my Genesis GV80, which averaged closer to 14 mpg with my driving habits. So far, the DAILY MACHINE is proving that a practical family vehicle can still feel special.
